Cricket MockUp 4

We don’t just design magazines and newspapers – we’ve designed websites, brand identities and many other types of editorial publication. So for instance, we’ve worked with top sport’s journalists to produce bold and eye-catching cricket match-day programmes; we’ve wrestled with the rigorous demands of presenting financial information in annual reports and accounts; we’ve designed elegant brochures that help brand and position companies in the forefront of their marketplace; we’ve produced a 200 page book celebrating the 50th anniversary of the luxury boat builder Fairline, and recently we’ve completed new brand identities for a school and a public service company.


1 Essex Cricket match day programmes Nick worked with The Times writer Mark Baldwin to produce Essex County Cricket Club’s match programmes and a whole raft of other marketing material. “We have been very impressed with your customer service and the quality of your design. You have provided us with a fresh and contemporary branding that we hope will increase our visitor numbers.” said Danny Macklin, Commercial Director, Essex Cricket. And: “Last night we were proudly awarded with two ECB awards: Best FL t20 campaign and Best Customer Engagement. This is a massive achievement and one you can take pride in.” ↓

2 Brochure and branding for content provider Orwell When I’m not designing for Gilburt and Paul, I collaborate with two ex-work colleagues and old friends, the journalists and writers Jonathan Arnold and Gary Mead. We have a partnership called Orwell and our aim is to provide businesses with influential content and design (annual reports, brochures, magazines etc) that enhances those businesses’ core philosophies so that they become better known, better understood and better received. Here are pages from the Orwell promotional brochure that I designed in autumn 2016 ↓


3 ECB and ICC match day programmes Dummy designs for the England Cricket 2014 matches against Sri Lanka and India, and the ICC Champions Trophy held in England in 2013. The pitch work for the ECB England programmes included a proposal for fully interactive digital versions of all programmes

4 Archant annual reports Nick has designed many annual reports and is adept at presenting detailed financial information in an attractive and easy-to-digest manner. Nick commissioned the illustrator Adam Simpson to produce this charming cover illustration for the 2012 Archant Report. Archant is a ‘community’ publisher and the tree was a clever way of summing up the Archant business.

8 50th anniversary book for Fairline Yachts  Nick worked with writer and editor Jonathan Arnold to produce a 200 page book celebrating 50 years of Fairline Yachts. Fairline began life as a small boat builder in Northamptonshire in 1967. They now export their beautifully designed and engineered boats worldwide. The book was put together in just one month from start to finish! ↓

9 Website completed in December 2016 for the content provider Orwell. The site is fully responsive and very easy to navigate and you can view it here. The site follows the Orwell brand identity which includes stationery and a brochure

10 Website completed in February 2015 for Garboldisham Cricket Club. The site is built in Wordpress and uses a theme called Zuki by Elma Studio in Germany (It’s the same theme that we’ve used for this Gilburt and Paul website). The site is mobile responsive and very easy to navigate and it has had more than 20,000 views in just five months. You can view the website here
